17-20 September 2006
MIT Haystack Observatory
Westford, MA USA

Sponsored by

This international meeting at MIT Haystack Observatory will explore the current state of high-speed astronomy data transmission, concentrating on e-VLBI, but recognizing the synergy with other geodesy/astronomy applications requiring real-time or near-real-time high-speed data transmissions.  Among the topics to be discussed

Two days of tutorials on networking and e-VLBI, presented by Internet2 and e-VLBI experts, are offered immediately preceding the main meeting.

Registration is required for attendance. Registration closes 21 August 2006.

Important Dates

Location

The workshop will be hosted by MIT Haystack Observatory in Westford, Massachusetts, USA. Haystack Observatory is situated amid rolling hills on 1300 forested acres of MIT land 35 miles northwest of Boston. The meeting will take place at the Observatory, which offers comfortable and spacious surroundings with modern conference facilities. September is typified by cool sunny days and crisp clear nights, though the weather can be quite unpredictable during this time of year.

Abstract Submission

Contributions of oral and poster presentations is encouraged. We expect most presentations to be of a technical nature, but encourage potential users to make their needs and wishes known as well. We will try to accommodate as many contributions as possible, but in order to balance the meeting content, we may ask some contributors to switch from oral to poster or vice versa. We plan to have most contributed oral presentations of length ~20 minutes including questions. In addition, we will invite key networking specialists and providers to present their views and projections for meeting the challenges presented by e-VLBI and to provide an opportunity for interaction with the VLBI/astronomy community.

We request that, as much as possible, presentations be available at the meeting in electronic format so that we may collect themtogether for reference at a web site following the meeting.
